I'm looking at buying an old Cat road grader (that runs) and looking for someone to haul it from Sheridan Wyoming to Colstrip Montana. It's just over 100 miles.
Mainly I need an estimate for right now.
Thanks

Pack a lunch and some beverages and drive the sucker.
even at 10 mph its only a long day, maybe 20 gal or less fuel.
Kubota 8540 tractor, FEL bucket and forks, Farmi winch
Kubota 900 RTV
Polaris 570 Sportsman ATV
3 Huskies 1 gas Echo 1 cordless Echo vintage Homelite super xl12
57 acres of woodland

It has crossed my mind. :D If I knew the machine better I would.
Even the seller said to do it. He says it'll run 30 MPH, but I really doubt that.
On the ranch I work for, to go by road it's right at 50 miles to the far side and I've taken a few different tractors, balers and farm implements that way. It's not a horrible way to spend the day. ;D

Get hold of all the grader guys near you with a low boy and grease the skids...........It is amazing the good contacts you can make for hauling timber later........ 8)

The only guy here with a lowboy doesn't want to leave the state. I may get ahold of him and offer to road it over the state line if he hauls it the rest of the way.

I bet it will do 30mph, Allan- blades will hustle right down the road.

Yeah BUT.....
For a piece of equipment that I haven't seen run for more than 10 minutes, I don't want to break down on the road and have to pay whatever it cost to get that beast home then. :D

I got the same headache if I go buy that Amish guy's post peeler up in the U.P.  About 100 miles from my site...but only possible route home being MI-35...a real hell-route if traffic backs up...and it will as I pull that clunker down the road!

Lucky for me, I've got an excuse to not go see the thing just yet;  Too much snow, both at owner's location and at my farm.  I couldn't pull that unit into place at this time if I tried.  Way too much snow.  Maybe next spring!  But the trip will not be a lot easier then.
Ask me about hybrid larch!

Have you tried googling heavy equip haulers in your area?

Yes Sir, I have and because I'm kinda out of the way a bit it's pretty slim pickens.
The seller says he has a guy that moves his equipment, but can't come up with his number right now because he's in Arizona.
I finally called a guy that hauls hay for the ranch and he has an RGN trailer and will do it for $800.
Sure makes roading it look a little better, but I'll go with him if I buy the grader.
Thanks for all the help guys.

I'd road it for $800.
I know the darned thing runs good and I will be going back down there either tomorrow or Saturday to check it out some more and drive it, plus I plan to let it sit and run for an hour or so just to see how it acts, but to drive it that far before getting a chance to check it out thoroughly just scares me.
Besides, if I were to blow the thing up on the way home, my girlfriend would NEVER let me hear the end of that one. :D :D She already doesn't like the idea of getting it.

Well, good news. I found a hauler out of Sheridan Wyoming that will do it for $550, so I guess this post is over.
Thank you
