Alaskan Wannabe, I was curious what part of Alaska you are in? In regards to access to your property Barbender made a good suggestion earlier about using a JD dozer. I have had a mine in the Brooks Range for the last 45 years that is 20 miles off the Hual Road, in the early days we used a wide pad JD 350C to access the site. If you don't have many big rocks to deal with the wide pad unit will go over mud and muskeg like it's not even there. We routinely used it to haul a tracked trailer carrying 500 gallons of diesel fuel which weighs considerably more that the 2000 lbs you were looking at hauling. Looks like you are make good progress on your homestead.

Appreciate the info on the machine, we'll look into that when it comes time to make another big haul.  Or we might try to rent a tracked crawler.  We're also on the KP not far from you.  We've been to Seward a couple times, to visit the great pacific octopus at your aquarium.  Was a really cool experience getting to hold "hands" with those creatures.
