Well, I've sawn about 400bf with the WM 10° 045 x 1 1/2, these are sawing pretty well, but I still get waves if I am pushing it to where the engine is starting to get a load on it. This stuff really does have some nasty knots, but not all the waves are around knots, either. I could be happy with these, but I still want to try more set. I'd like to get the speed I'm after in an .045 blade, rather than going to the thicker .050 or .055.

As many others have already mentioned, set is most likely your issue if one log is taking that much of a toll on quality of cut. I have a 24hp motor on my mill and recently cut 40+ 25-30" diam EWP logs 16'-20' long. I had the exact same issue as you with a brand new blade cutting great for the first log, and after that falling flat. Set fixed my issue, .028 is what I had them set at. Those big knotted pines are tough on a band, I would rather cut oak anyday.
Dream as if you'll saw forever; saw as if you'll die today.
