My son has decided he wants to  get a small shavings mill and use my cedar slabs, does anyone know where we might find used stuff for sale. Have looked at Jackson, Salsco, and Sawmill Exchange, just out of our price range.
Too much work-not enough pay.

What is the "price range" ??

and what is considered "small" ??

Fill us in a little on what he has in mind.  I assume he has a business plan of some kind thought out.

For starters...
size of material to shave..?
volume production per day...?
labor intensive or not...?
investment capital...?
return on investment...?
south central Wisconsin
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others

Thanks beenthere!  He will be using 48" cedar and sycamore. Since this will be part time, probably 20-50 yards a day. He will be shaving directly into a truck and deliver when full. My son has already lined up 3 stables to take the shavings. He won't be trying to dry the shavings as the stables don't care, price dictates this. He wants to keep everything very simple and and not have over $10,000 in the shavings mill and conveyors. He has everything else, truck,loader, and ect.
Too much work-not enough pay.
