A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in forestry; or


Receipt of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in forestry within six (6) months of appointment.




Responsible for performing field duties associated with the management of lands at Little Big Econ State Forest.  Specific activities include, but are not limited to, timber marking, timber cruising and volume estimation for preparation of timber sales, inspecting timber sales for contract compliance, forest inventory (including rare, threatened and endangered species), prescribed burning, fire suppression assistance, timber stand improvement work, reforestation, activities (including site preparation prescriptions), diagnosis of forest insect and disease problems, wildlife habitat improvement, employment of Best Management Practices, forest road maintenance and forest recreation and education activities.  The incumbent must be capable of work! ing independently as well as working cooperatively with a wide variety of public and private interests in the management of Little Big Econ State Forest.


Perform administrative duties such as assisting with the development and management of annual budgets, service contracts and annual work plans, maintain records of forest management accomplishments, and prepare annual reports and other types of correspondence.


Coordinate and oversee work projects of Forest Rangers assigned to Little Big Econ State Forest.  This includes use of Forest Rangers in forest management activities in training Forest Rangers to perform technical forestry activities.


Responsible for the care and maintenance of assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.


Perform other duties as assigned.
