Im new to this site & also a new wm lt40 owner. Im looking for some advice on ins. for my mill & my self. i will be traveling & sawing at home. general liability & what kind of coverage for pulling it down the rd do ya`ll use. O yea please type slow because i can`t read fast.

Robert Owens

Read the thread about the mill wreck as a lot of people are talking about insurance on that thread. I am also trying to find insurance for my mill and have learned that having it hooked to my truck does not mean the mill is insured. My insurance company does not have an inland marine policy for a sawmill and getting a liability policy is between 4-5 grand to pull and saw for others. I currently just saw for myself but thought about sawing for others once I retire. I would just make sure it was all in writing before I moved the mill anywhere. At this time I can't even pull my mill between my two farms so am still looking for an inland marine policy from various insurance companies. Good luck.

I get mine from Stanley McDonald Agency. Found them through the forum. Coverage is good, price is fair. 608-788-6160
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

Welcome Danny!

My twisted sense of humor thought to say....

I got my ''in'' from buying a mill then I fell in with a bunch of guys who saw and a few couldnt saw enough for themselves started buying wood from me. So I got more ''in'' when I could sell more wood than I could saw so i bought another mill and then another and I sold a couple providing an ''in'' for some other people and then I bought yet another mill that got me ''in'' almost over my head.

Then reality set ''in'' that you meant Insurance and so I was out since I havn't any.

Funny this should come up.  Have been going back and forth with the local ins. agent and I asked her today why they call it an inland marine policy.  I have my
mill insured through stanley mcdonald agency since 2014
Boy, back in my day..
