Title: Sawmill test drives near me?!?1
Post by: msollars on February 25, 2022, 11:54:24 AM
I have a close friend who is in the market for a sawmill.  The usual suspects are involved:
1220, lt15 wide, Boardwalk 40, Norwoods......looking for 36" capacity or close to it.

I have read on here multiple times "what you need to do is try to find somebody nearby with X machine and get your hands on it before deciding".

That's where my friend is in the process.  He'd really like to see some of the above machines up close but doesn't know where to start to look.

He's in the Eastern Kansas City, Missouri area.

Thanks for any replies,

Matt

THIS!

Thank you so much.   This is what I'm looking for.  Folks willing to let him come check out the machine, ask questions, etc.

Thank you very much to any responders, it's very much appreciated.

Matt

I have a Timber King 2000 10 y/o.  It has been replaced by the upgraded 2020.  they are made in KC, Mo.  they are a sponsor, and Wil is a member here.  I work with Matt, the sales guy, and he is helpful.  they do training for new owners and demos on Fridays I think (used to).  I personally am about 3 hours from KC.  I love my mill, and also feel the wood meizer makes a good mill, and also has good customer support.  i would call Matt or talk with the owner Will and see what they have coming up.  good luck to you friend.  many of the companies are a year out from delivery.  you could also ask about used, and another sponsor is the sawmill exchange listed below.  @Will_Johnson (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=540)

I am about 11 hours away, so that is to far,  But i have a Woodmizer LT35 and on march 20th (see calendar for event details) I will have woooland mills 130 max here also. Maybe a Norwood guy coming also.

You may find someone close by using the Wood mizer page, under the "find a sawyer" tab.  It will list sawyers close to you who are willing to do demo's.

March 19th and 20th 2022. Year 2 Free Sawmill Weekend, Craft show in Shows, Events and Places to meet (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=117743.0)

   Hope that helps.
