To all:
I've been asked to teach a timber framing workshop in NC.

I don't have a date yet.

But the host is wondering who'd be interested to coming over to learn some timber framing.

It would be a 12'x36' frame. I will teach the basic mortise and tenon joint of a tie beam joining a post. How to layout and cut a brace, going between those two timbers. Along will all other joints in the frame design.

Most likely it would be a five day workshop from a Wednesday through Sunday. Unless we do it on a holiday weekend. If so then it would be Thursday through Monday.

Please let us know if you're interested.

Any chance of a workshop on the west coast? Or do you know of any being held on the west coast?

Any idea what part of North Carolina? Im interested and I know if it were reasonably close, I could roundup a few of my riff raff friends

Depends on when. I have three people in the Ashville area interested. I would make the trip too if the dates lined up.

Jim, I know of at least one and perhaps two people that may be interested.  I'll forward this on to them.
Peterson 10" WPF with 65' of track
Smith - Gallagher dedicated slabber
Tom's 3638D Baker band mill
and a mix of log handling heavy equipment.

I would be interested depending on the dates.

We were thinking of including the workshop into a weekend so you don't miss a lot of days of work during the week.

Two possible dates as follows:
Sept 30- Oct 4
Nov 11-15

What works for you guys?

PS. host is leaning towards Nov 11-15

That should work for me, Jim. Any idea what the cost is going to be?

Five spots taken, y'all. Only 3 left. Attendees are from NC, SC, GA, and AL. Looks like it's going to be full, so don't wait too long to register if you want to join us.

Again, dates are Nov 11-15. Location is North Wilkesboro, NC.

If anyone is considering joining us for this workshop, there is only one spot remaining. Come to western NC this November and learn the timber framing craft from Jim Rogers. Only $625. For lodging I've arranged for a group discount at the local Hampton Inn. $59/night + tax. Let me know...

Looking forward to this!

Pretty new to timber framing (brand new). I've done quite a bit of stick framing and recently purchased a band saw mill so that I can put some of the trees that we're clearing on our property to good use.
