The first round of geese are headed south this morning.  They must be the ones that go the furthest south. Honk honk.

I saw some too!  Truly beautiful to see and hear.

The grackles and swainsons thrushes must have flown south too because they are gone, the grackles have been gone for at least 2 weeks. At least the chickadees stick around.

I expect the hummingbirds to leave soon.

I saw and heard a flock of geese yesterday, with all the smoke they probably need Scott packs and IFR. Some bushes have turned colour.

We have 'em the year round here, nasty buggers.  Pooping everywhere, but not where I live.

The grackles don't leave until October up here. They flock up and see them in hardwood forest a lot.

Hummers are still active here on the porch feeder, but they'll leave real soon. I know the barn swallows are gone now.

I had grackles show up here last week stealing Sampson's dog food and feasting on wild black cherries that are ripe around here now. We'd have 30-40 on the porch rail. I think they either finished the cherries or mostly moved on. I see a few but not big flocks now.

We have Canada Geese here year round so I have not noticed any difference on our numbers.
