this may be a dumb ? but would a F-800 ford single axle with a 33,000 lb rear and 5.9 cummins pull a Franklin 170 on a small lowboy?

I had a D4D cat dozer with blade, canopy and winch on an International Acco with a 345 v8 petrol and it worked.

the ford dose not have a 33000lb rear gvw maybe. i have an ih with a 30000lb rear end its huge. air breaks are always your best choice

My F-800 handles an older 170 just fine. One of the newer dark green 170s is a little too much for it. The 5.9 cummins may be a little under powered but as long as it has air breaks it should do fine.

Iam not sure but won't he get into trouble with the P.U.C.O. with the over all G.V.W. with the skidder on board ? ?

not sure on the weight laws where he is. up here they care about the number of axles and on front tire width. the single axle truck plus dual tandem trailer could be reged for 55000lbs

smwwoody

Same here and if it is forestry related you can buy a 5% overload sticker every year which would give you an extra 2750lbs. You just have to stay off the federal roads because that would never fly there.

i  would say it will haul it fine. i have a single axle f 600 dump with a 429 gas motor .hy brakes it pulls my c5 forwarder on my 3 axle trailer just fine. i used to pull it with my f350 diesel. just tricky to stop.if you have good trailer brakes you dont have to have air brakes.
