Some real good pics there. For a really good aviation related book, I really enjoyed " Wager with the wind " the Don Sheldon story. About one of the if not the most known bush pilot in Alaska. He had some really hairy adventure, saved many peoples lives and some amazing experiences.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but.................one of my all-time favorite authors was Nevil Shute; many of his books revolved around planes/pilots/aviation.

I figure the canards give the pilot the edge, allowing him to fly both ends of the plane. This fellow has his hands full.

We get the pleaseure of watching the crop dusters around here. We have an AgCat pilot that can really handle his plane. The aerobatics are sure a fine site to behold.

Mini-dozer, 450 Case, being hooked to a skycrane.

I never hooked a dozer to a skycrane. I was on a small hill once when I "talked in" a skycrane carring a D-5 Cat dozer. The tracks and blade was carried by another skycrane. When the skycrane was about to set the dozer down, the wind off the roters was so strong that me and all the other dumb as box of rocks people were blown off the hill. As soon as the dozer touched down and the weight was removed off the skycrane the wind decreased to a slight breeze. I was glad I was not the dozer operator that had to put the tracks and blade on by hand.

Not the latest of aircraft but of the same vintage as old shakey as posted by Paul_H. The
front seat of this aircraft was my office from 1961 to 1963. I flew other models of the
same basic aircraft up through 1975 when most of them were retired from service.

The Mig uses vectored thrust to manouver as well as the control surfaces. I have another bigger video that has shots from a camera mounted under the plane, you can see the jet tailpipes waving about to direct thrust in the direction the pilot wants. Thats how he can balance it on it's tail and backflip it with no airspeed.

What on EARTH makes someone flying a plane designed to go thousands of Km/Hr decide to see if he can make it do a backflip?

What makes him say, Hey! Today I think I'll see if I can screw with the laws of gravity and make the plane dance on it's tail?

I'm sure glad they showed where the plane landed, though, coz I'd have never believed it otherwise!

Don, it is either the t6 Texan or the Douglas Dauntless SDB dive bomber, I'm not sure which. I'm leaning more to the T6 because I can determine if it has the tell-tale holed dive brake on the trailing edge of the wing.

I love airpalnes!!! That Mig would be a great ride, could you imagine coming up against one of those in combat?

I saw a program on t.v. a while back where the soviet union was allowing people to come in and pay for ride in a mig. They are having a hard time with funds to operate the military and they use all kinds of fundraisers :D I think I remember $10,000. as the price. A little out of my budget, but I would love to have a ticket.

Sorry, that's it's nickname. It does look like it would be a fun ride. Motion sickness or lack thereof hits everybody differently. I embarrased myself as a teen driver when my antics made a buddy's girlfriend sick :-[.

I still owe Michelle a balloon ride, like a glider that makes me nervous.

Well, I get awfully motion sick.

Can't go on a boat without a bucket.

Can't go in a car unless I'm driving or asleep.

Can't go in a plane without a baggie.

Still love to do all of the above. I just sorta got used to it.

And no, those tablets don't work. Although if I was going to go on the "vomit comet" I'd get an injection of Maxolon before I went up...

The first time I went on a ferry boat my mother was pushing Gravol. 'Ya gotta take these, it'll make ya feel better'. Well, first off I don't get motion sick on a boat or plane and why she figured I needed those, I'll never figure out. I took one, and it was the worst thing I ever did. Dizzy and unballanced, sleepy. Sheesh!! Rode on several ferries and planes of all kinds since and never took no pills. My mother gets sick on a bench swing or in a back seat of a car. :

This must be one souped-up Twin Beech! I've jumped out of quite a few, but never one with enough power to carry this load outside on one engine. That's also one strong dude hanging on the prop. It's hard to see from this photo but I'll bet the pilot has some serious control inputs.

No photos, as they would be rare, and most everything was destroyed by government. But here are a couple books on the Avro Arrow and the people involved. I think the first book has an aerial view of the aircraft. I'm awaiting their arrival from Amizon.ca
