2186 muffler

Can anyone tell me if the muffler is the same on a 2186 & 2171? Thanks

They look similar, but I don't think they are the same.

Slight differences, but should work.(Not 100%)

Bought a used saw they gutted the muffler but also the diflector, spark screen and screw are gone. Exhaust comes right up where my hand sits on the handle bar and melted a lil grove in the plastic. New muffler from husky $80. Found a used one for $17 off a 2171

You could order/buy a Husqvarna 266 deflector for $6. Cover the exhaust port and deflect the hot gasses where they need to go. Fasten by welding or with (2) self tapping screws.

So you have a 2186 with a gutted muffler and want to put a 2171 muffler on it....correct?

If I'm not mistaken, the 2186 is equivalent to the Husqvarna 385XP.
If I'm wrong, someone tell me.

Yes you are correct I have the 2186 and found a used 2171 muffler I was gonna buy  if it would fit. Also the 385 and 2186 are pretty much the same.

Then oem list it like this.  I would try the 2171 going by the afm info. I never owned a 385 390 to really know first hand.
