Title: John deere 540b tranny leak
Post by: taurus on October 09, 2019, 06:56:29 PM
my tranny has a leak on the left side(sitting on machine) it is from some sorta housing thing on side. i assume a gasket broke but its a VERY tight spot, its a steady drip when machine is running, its runs down and off of the front rear end.cant see it well with the tightness to frame and the hoses... does anyone have a link to a diagram for the out side of the tranny.. its the 8fwd and 4 reverse tranny. i am guessing early to mid 80s.  4cyl turbo engine if that makes a difference.

Sorry no diagram. On the 440 the oil filter housing is there. It sticks out 5-6 inches,  4-5 inch dia.
