I had one years ago. 350, no letter after the number. If I remember correctly mine was a 1965 model.

@mbunten mbunten@ I forget how to tag, but mbunten has a 350 dozer he has been thru and I discussed a loader/hoe unit with him I was looking at. He seems to know a fair bit about them so ask away.
4430jd,
I have a JD 350 crawler dozer, which I'm fairly familiar with, but I dont know a ton about the shovel dozers. I know from talking to a local retired JD mechanic, some of the problems with a hoe can be premature sprocket wear depending on how much traveling you're doing with the hoe on. Another problem area with these smaller crawlers was the bolts that hold the reverser to the transmission housing, and the sideframes cracking from the stress of something like a log arch or a hoe hanging off the back. Again, these are great little machines in my opinion, but they have a limit. If they arent pushed past that limit, you'l get many years of service from it. Im sure there a lots of other guys on here that could comment or have way more knowledge than I do....

I own a 350B crawler/loader. I know a bit about it. Enough to know that the 350 and the 350B are slightly different, not necessarily in good ways either! I may be able to help. Mine is down at the moment. Will need the engine removed for diagnostics but it does run. It's down now because the rear main seal is slinging so much oil into the starter that it kills the starter. I'm sure I'll find more wrong than just the seal when I get the engine out...

What exactly was it that you got?
I thought 4430jd would disappear after reading the name of his town.
