Have any of you guy tried this sinus rinse product or anything like it: SINUS RINSE ™ Nasal Rinse from NeilMed.  About 6 weeks ago I came down with another sinus infection and couldn't get into see my regular military quack doctor.  So I saw an old retired Navy Nurse Practitioner, who prescribed this sinus rinse/flush for me.  And boy does it work for me.  It works best for me when I nuke it in the microwave for about 25 seconds to bring it to body temperature.  Also it helps to use distilled water – no chorine to burn the sinus tissues.  BTW, I like the way it works so much, I'm thinking about going to their web site and ordering the larger flush bottle, 16oz.

When I first felt this infection coming on, I tried to use a Netipot to flush things out, but just can't get it to flow right.  Anyone successfully used a Netipot?

I like the way it clears my sinuses after running the saw mill – practically after sawing poplar.  Oh BTW, I always use a good dust mask (N95 or better) while sawing and I can still tell the difference if I flush or not after running the mill.  Helps a lot, a WHOLE LOT.

I think I will have to  get some. As I get older it seems dust bother me more. Yesterday we were taking down some fascia and suffit on a 100 +yo house. Today I feel like my head is not big enough for what in it. Feel half sick, quite work a little early.

I've been doing it for years.  When I was a little boy, I used to see an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist who showed me and my Mom how to irrigate our sinuses.
We mixed a half teaspoon of salt and a half teaspoon of baking soda in a tall glass of water.  The  I was to put some in my hand and sniff it up my nose. Usually one side of your nose is readily acceptable and the other side is partially closed.  It's like going swimming in the ocean.  Your nose begins to drain.  The trick is to sniff enough that it will cleanse the top of the soft pallet in the back and uppor part of your throat.  Then you can spit the concoction out.

Once thisis mastered, the next step is to put some in your mouth and blow it out of your nose.  It isn't easy at first, but with practice, it becomes easier and easier.   The first few times it might burn a little, but eventually you get used to it.

I didn't know that there were commercially available solutions. What I do works fine for me and it hardly costs a thing, as well as almost always being available.  :)

I got to using Listerine mouth wash.  BOY does it ever feel like you've got a bunch of bees up your nose!  I'm like the guys on TV that drink white lightin', stompin' and snortin' around.  I do one side and then get over it.  I hold it in as long as I can but eventually I'll have to sneeze it out.  Then I do the other.

If my sinuses are really clogged up,  I may come back and do it again in about an hour.

Mary has a perpetual sinus problem.  She'll dope up with Vick's Vapor rub and come to bed.  I tell her to try my Listerine up the nose trick but she'll have no part of it.

A little salt water in the nose does wonders.

I have chronic sinusitis and  use Tom's method, it really helps.  The middle ear infections have finally cleared up. Just go easy on the salt, it can burn.

My wife and I have his and her bottles.  It works great for allergies in the spring too.  Helps to get rid of the pollen.  It sure feels wierd the first time you use it but it does work great.

I find I have to repeat 2 or 3 times to get a good flush when my nose is really stuffed up.

I works to get sawdust or other dust out after a time of forgetting to wear your dust mask or resperator ::)

A couple years back, Carroll Burnette was on a late night talk show.  She did Tom's trick by took a sip of water, and blowing it out her nose.  She claims to do it each day and does not get colds.
I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

I did it once, but it was when I sneezed a mouth full of sprite.  What a mess. ::)

When I used to surf a lot I found that was really good for clearing the sinuses  ;)

Usually when you got wiped out in some spectacular fashion and got high pressure water injected up your nose and then given a heavy duty spins cycle. It seemed to flush out all sorts of crud  :D Of course you every time you put your head down for the next 24 hours saltwater came out ya nose  ::)

So yes, I can see how a bit of mild salt water or medical saline solution could do a similar thing, maybe in a more controlled manner  ;D

Cheers

I'll tell ya what used to get me sometimes is drinking Sussex ginger ale. Try taking a mouthful and swallow , then with the glass still tipped for drinking, take a sniff just before another mouthful and see if that second mouthful doesn't come out the nasal passage.  :D :D :D

The ginger is (was) more potent than in that weak Canada Ginger Ale fake stuff.  It's the soda we always had on hand when we needed a drink of something when we got the flu.  ;D Unfortunately, it's one of those products of the Maritimes that got absorbed by the Borg of central Canada, and has been modified to a weakened state. Not the same formula since Cadbury messed with it.  ::) They ruined our cheese to.  >:(

I cured it a few years ago by going in and letting them rout them out.  Had to have it done twice but I don't have any problems anymore.  The down side is that instead of being plugged up you snot like a dragon.
