No more than 20. And that is a high number. More like a steady 15. Not much snow around here, so can find food.
I try to keep it to about a 50#bag a week. Not a rich man here. ;D
I put out about 3 gallons a night. If 2 comes they make out good, if 20 comes they better eat fast.  :D
Brenda had an operation on her thumb. Might take 6 months to heal.
Then before that she broke a couple ribs. So I have been the dish washer, keep the house clean and cook and all the other duties that is in the house. The outside stuff has really taken a back seat.
She is really one handed. No sweeping the floor the Dr said. No nothing!!!
If you come visit, the house could use a cleaning.  ;D
I've found 2 sheds so far. Just found one the other night.

Sorry to hear about Brenda, hope she gets well soon.
The outside work will wait for you, don't worry. ;D
I had no snow to speak of, last night got 4"
They have been eating some of the corn I put out. #40 lb last 10 days'
But, I only have 4 or 5 here, all does.

Ray's camera is broke and the deer run away from cameras. ;D

The new lawn here is all timothy and clover, haven't seen a deer on it. But there has been in the old grassy area where the old barn sat in years past. That grows neck high down there, I bush hog it though.

Wow Ray, I had those duties after PatD broke her arm, but not nearly to the extent nor length of time that you have and will have.  Stay strong my friend.

PatD and I wish Brenda the best with her recovery.

Small food plot of the buck forage oats thanks to Walnut Beast, they seem to agree with this buck palete.

Seems to be enjoying it, while being alert to any does in the area. Glad to see a few nice bucks showing up in the daytime now.
Today I got out the rototiller and worked up the patch of ground that I planted the forage oats in last year. Had a trail camera there so combined some of the camera video into this one video for kicks. Put out more forage oats along with some other seeds to monitor what might become of the effort.

Thumb healing is really done.
She can do house work now.  ;D
I don't mind doing it, but hard to work outside and inside too.

Looks fantastic! You have a nice system. Now a little rain

I haven't seen any deer for awhile, but I just happened to look out the big window into the far back field next to Maine. I see two does out there feeding in the field and working their way north. Nothing for snow to keep them from going most anywhere this winter. Next is surviving the coyotes.

Also saw a flock of turkeys 3 miles from here in old corn stubble.  ffsmiley

Here you can hunt coyotes year-round. But, come Jan 1 you can hunt at night. I have friends all set up for that in town. Some are trapping. Last year they got 60+.
When I went out to look at the mill and check to see if everything was OK.  [Hasent run cents Dec 1 ]
I saw where 2 went by the mill last night, tracks in the 1" of snow we got.

Yup, up by the woodlot is like a coyote play pen. The deer keep moving and don't stick around. There is always a coyote track anywhere I see deer tracks. And very few deer tracks. The deer stay on my trails and no hanging around, usually a straight path across and gone.   ffcheesy

Making room for more. A cousin trapped and shot over thirty one fall by my place late one fall. By January there were all kinds of tracks around. I told him you never got all them ones.  ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy   That's the thing  with coyotes, others just move into the space of the ones you harvested. Saw another coyote the other day crossing a field on another farm about 4 miles away. I've had them darn things come around the back yard. Only canine I want back there is Tippy to control the ground hogs.  ffcheesy

I see 4 deer feeding in the field this morning. Only captured 3 in the picture, and the border monument.

She's a pretty smart little fox. She had a den out behind last summer in an old ground hog hole.  I see her tracks around the yard in the snow now and again. ffcool  She'll bark or screech at them darn coyotes at night sometimes.

With hardly any snow, not many are coming at one time. Maybe 4-5.
But have seen almost 10 deer in the field.
Saw a pretty buck walk in front of me when I was  coming up the driveway a week ago. They still have antlers.

We have as many as 4 deer pass by in the back field going north or south and maybe skipping the border to the west. But it's days between sightings. The other day up at the woodlot I saw no deer tracks, but I saw tracks of several coyotes and snowshoe hare. And of course red squirrels. I see no porky sign this winter at all.

A little molasses in the oats to.  ffcheesy You can buy molasses here by the gallon jug. But I recall some of the mill/grinders put molasses in for the animals, this was in ground oats.

Saw a couple deer in the field a few days ago again. 2 I think. There's only 4 deer around here. Young fella up the road, who hunts a little, said he saw 17 deer back there when mother mentioned seeing the deer. Yeah, I said, he saw them same deer about 4 or 5 times.  ffcheesy ffcheesy
