I have an opportunity to cut some thick walnut. They want the stock to end up 2.5" after the wood is dry. I am not sure on how much I should add for shrinkage. I normally don't cut wood this thick but I may take a shot at it. Any inot would be great, well almost any input.

Thanks

If it was me I'd cut it an extra 3/16ths of an inch. It won't shrink that much but it helps to have some cushion to clean it up to the final dimension.

Walnut is sure nice to saw.

There is nothing that smells better than fresh cut walnut .

Oh yea, fresh walnut is the greatest...although cutting cherry rates right up there too.  8)

Everytime someone comes to visit the Morton where we have our wood drying, the first thing they say is, "man it sure smells good in here!"

Just one of the many perks of cutting your own wood.  :)
