Customer dropped this off.  Said it was a Willow Oak.  Is it?

Does not look like any of the Willow Oak I see, looks more like Locust to me.  Now the log to the left that you can just see a little of does look like it could be Willow Oak.

if you look at the end grain you'd know if it is an oak by the rays.  Distinct pores summer/vs spring and rays.  Use the camera and zoom in on the end grain if, like me, your eyes are not what they used to be.. :D

Bark looks more like willow then an oak, willow oak bark looks like bark from a red oak.

I can't say about Black Willow.  That bark looks mighty heavy/thick.

But trees in different locations and growing conditions are sometime different.  The bark on these Black Willow logs seemed thinner and more stringy.

Notice the trailer hauling Willow lumber in the background.  ;D

Definitely not an oak of any kind.  Could be black willow.
