Drying a load of ERC in the solar kiln.  It was stack dried previously and this morning I checked the outside of the stack and got an average of about 9%

Would it be effective if I cut one board in half so I could check the moisture more in the center of the board? (both length & thickness)  Can you check moisture accurately on the end of a cut like that?  (Using Delmhorst J2000 but don't have the slide hammer to go with it.)

I realize it won't tell me what's going on in the center of the 4 x 8 x 3' high stack but will there be a significant difference?
