We give most all of our equipment nicknames. Mostly they are named after people we bought them off of. We've got Harvey the wheel loader, Darryl the power unit, AJ the 064 saw and of course Jack the skidder. People look at you a little strange when you start saying "AJ's over on Jack" or "I just about ran over AJ with Harvey". When you spend your days with these machines its nice that they have a name.  lol
Saw you tomorrow!

:D We won't pursue that one. I called one truck Harley 'cause it spent so much time at the side of the road.

With foodmizer, I get the image of slicing the pig on the mill. Im hoping it was just a serving table ??? Know what you guys mean about choice names when they are broke down. I find a little sweet talk when they're running goes a long a way.

Some of our cows get names, I just can't say them here  ;D  I had one old cow that just would never shut up from the start of calving season till they went to pasture.  I called her Gail.. the name of my now ex-mother in law  :D  She would NEVER shut up either. :D

Quite the contrast there, Jeff.  We have got to come 'round the lake one of these summers to see that set up.

Cool Topic. The kids always thought I was nuts for naming the equipment, but most times it did it so they could actually remember which piece of equipment I was talking about. They were never good at brand names, but give it a catchy nick name and they might have a 50% chance of remembering exactly what you are talking about:

1988 Chevy one ton truck is "Rolling Gas Crisis" - Because it get 10 miles per gallon
Hydraulic Splitter is "Large Persuader"
CNC Router is " The Sign Maker"
Laser Engraver is now nicknamed "Sparky"

Every family member has a nickname as well. Some names are more flattering than others, usually associated with their talents, or the lack thereof.  Many could not be aired on the forum.  :o Surfice it to say, I am the "Beaver" 8)
Woodmizer LT-10 10hp
Epilog Mini 18 Laser Engraver with rotary axis
Digital Wood Carver CNC Machine
6 x 10 dump trailer
Grizzly 15in Spiral Cut Surface Planer
Grizzly 6in Spiral Cut Joiner
Twister Firewood Bundler
Jet 10-20 Drum Sander
Jet Bandsaw

Save a tree...eat a beaver!

Guess I'm not alone  :) we call her Phyllis. Ours has a few years behind her so consequently Phyllis occasionally gives some lousy info. Sweet old Phyllis quickly changes gender and becomes a son..... :-X

My trucks have names but my equipment doesn't. The truck's names are kinda self explanatory, Blacky, Whitey, and Green Meanie.
