Does anyone use a good shipping company for boards that is reasonable?

It is kinda hard to find an issue that hasn't come up here before, Rich. ;)  If nobody asked anything that hasn't been asked before, we wouldn't have much to talk about. :D

Reberly, when you get Freightquote on the line 800 323 5441 go to ext 1855 and talk to Mitch.  He has helped us for several years.

Make your pallet a little longer and an inch or so wider than your lumber stack.  Use at least 3 steel straps for 8', 4 if longer.  We put cardboard at the corners to help protect the lumber.
