Best place to buy saplings?

Hello All, 

Where is the best place to get saplings for good long growth and harvesting? 
Trying plant some fruit and nut trees for future food harvesting and the pleasant appearances. I get the feeling Lowes or Home Depot is not the best place to get good trees. Is Pikes better? Is there a better source than Pikes? 
Saplings seems the easiest and best for starting a mini orchard, but is it possible to get saplings adapted to my area? 
Anyway, looking for some good advice!

I would ask your local agricultural extension agent, they are a good starting point.

McMinnville, TN is an area of many wholesale and a few retail nurseries. 
For me to plant a plantation the KY tree farm nearby is far more logical than saplings.
