Could someone explain the differences between Atlantic white cedar and Northern white cedar?
Once you get sap in your veins, you will always have sawdust in your pockets.

Atlantic White;
Chamaecyparis thyoides - Wikipedia
Kind of their own thing

Northern White;
Thuja occidentalis - Wikipedia
A thooo-ya, related to Western Red Cedar (thuja plicata) and the cemetery green arborvitae trees, the cypress family.

And from this morning check SD's post;

Not a forester, just a wood cutter but I love A. white cedar. I have actually had all 3 eastern cedars in saw logs here at the same time. Atlantic can be a good sized tree. I once had one log 24' long, 24" tip and 30
" butt.   I have seen larger. Try to tell the different white cedars by the bark alone. I can not do it as sometimes one is gray [the northern[ and the other brown, the Atlantic but sometimes the northern is also brown. The atlantic lumber can have yellow and pink color in it but so can the northern but not often.

Throw leyland and arborvitae in there too, I've got both in the shop now, the arborvitae is a little blander but not enough to reliably pick it out. I doubt I could sort them.
