I've been crusing YouTube looking at how people put tires on chopping blocks for splitting.  I did it for a while but never really had it set up right and it pretty much came apart after a day of splitting.

I'm looking for ideas on the best way to attach the tire to a splitting block.  One thing I have to do is get a bigger block, the one I have is about 16 inches across and the tire I want mounted has a 25 in O D.  (not gonna work)

I thought maybe I could find an Elm tree and sacrifice it for the base if I could find one big enough, but to date I havn't found one on my land.

The most radical idea I've had is to pour a cement base.  Then build on the top of it with oak 4x4 laminated together and build a frame that would have 3 post that would ride up the sides of the tire holding it in place.

Any ideas would be welcomed.
Thanks

mesquite buckeye

Big old nasty stumps are the best for that. The wood is interlocked and is hard to split. ;D
Manage 80 acre tree farm in central Missouri and Mesquite timber and about a gozillion saguaros in Arizona.
