'Harvesting Timber Crops' by A. E. Wackerman circa. 1966. is a good general forestry book. It is quite dated though, from times during the 50's and 60's. A lot is very relevant and some historical. I can remember some of the old lumber camps from the 70's and early 80's just as pictured in the book. I can remember different loggers using crawlers in the 60's to haul and yard wood on sleds. Some of you folks have posted pictures of old chainsaws and wheel saws for cutting timber, also shows other cutting implements.  Shows old trucks used, barging, fluming, rail roads, rafting and stream driving. Yarding systems and equipment for coastal logging. Regional differences in logging. Safety, planning, marking, harvesting. Wished it was updated. I have a reprint from 2002, published in India. Are they that far behind?
