Okay, So What's This For?

I was looking around at some of my inherited junque and I saw this crane thing. Anybody know if it's built for a purpose, or is it just an all-around crane? Looks like it could come in handy for a lot of stuff  ;D

It looks like it might be a small stationariry/skid type log yarder of some sort.  It might have been used to pull logs to the mill or large cants off of a small mill setup. :-/

 I got one in the back of my pick up , the top part with the winch , mine has a hydraulic jack to raise and lower , a back saver... it will lift 1/2 a ton into the box ... thats blenty strong to lift a log in there....
