My A1C was 7.2 which is over the top. The doc put me on Metformin 500 mg. I did not like the side effects. 
So I change my meals to a fat diet. 
Now I eat ham and 3 egg. in the morning. Every day. 
Hamburger for lunch with bread. 
Supper, steak or turkey.
My A1C went to 6.0. no more metformin.

Diet can certainly help if you are "slightly" type 2 diabetic. And even if you need some meds, watching what you eat can reduce the dose you need. (so less side effects)

Eggs aren't the evil food anymore and are a good way to get the  nutrients you need without hitting the sugars and starch heavily.  Like, don't get carried away, but just cutting back the amount of sugar / starch and adding more protein / oils / veges into a diet makes a difference. 

Even with that I'm on 2,000 mg Metformin with empagliflizin to keep my numbers under control. Do what you have to, as uncontrolled diabetes is BAD news. If you can control your levels with diet, that's great, but you don't want the nerve and circulation damage that comes from uncontrolled blood sugar levels.

Also on 2,000mg Metformin, add 10 units of Lantus (long lasting insulin) and my last A1C was 5.6.  My biggest problem now is high triglycerides.  There seems to be confusion on diets for high triglycerides, each one shows different foods as allowable.  Endocrinologist  wants me to try Ozempic,  no thanks the Lantus costs enough and seems to be doing me fine.

Went to have my mri on my foot this morning. 
Got on the table all suited up and the camera didn't fit over my leg.
It was a no go.
I'm on meds to get my legs down so maybe in a couple of weeks or a open mri.

The heart exam results, doesn't sound to good. I haven't talked with my Dr yet but I  read the Heart Dr's. Report. 
I going to have to get my affairs in order  :embarassed:

Medical reports are like reading the internet....what you read often doesn't have much context, but one can sure get worked up over it.   Do not interpret the printed results off a radiographic test as predictive.  Yes, you'll have to work with what you've got, but let your docs make a plan before you fall into despair.

DortorB is right Bruno. Reading those things will make anyone feel sick. They use words that are easily and expectedly mis-interpreted by the layman. Words like 'failure' and 'blockage' can ( and would) lead anyone to think the worst. But a physician reads these same words and sees what he needs to fix, either with meds or other methods. You may be reading the worst and your Doc will read the same report and think "OK, we can deal with this".
 Wait until you talk to the Doc it could be a whole different movie at that point.

reports are best interpreted by the doc who knows about them.  an example is people who state they only have half (50%) heart function.  It is really ejection fraction and normal is 50 to 60%.  I have known patients with only 3% ejection fraction and were up walking around.  wait for the doc to interpret for you.  We should all get our affairs in order, as we never know.  I hope this is the case for you as well, and you are misinterpreting the result.  Good luck, and regards, Doc.

One of my least favorite medical terms is, "congestive heart failure". I wish they would call it "congestive heart stress" or something like that. Failure indicates it's going to quit, I have grandparents that were diagnosed with that and they soldiered on for another 12-15 years.

Bruno, I hope you don't mind if I hop on for a story that kinda sorta probably has nothing to do with anything other than how we interpret what the doc is saying. I don't know about y'all but when docs have me in the room and start 'splaining things, through whatever is swimming in my skull, I hear the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoons.

I've been bouncing around in the bobcat and for the past coupla years have "failed" the docs prostate bloodwork. He sent me in for biopsies, less than enjoyable. My sweetwife drove us 2 hours back home, I kind of shuffled to the chair, opened up the forum for distraction and the first thing I saw was a member losing his dad to that cancer. Sort of a low night. And then the wait. Yesterday I was supposed to drive back over and meet with the doc. It was going to blow the day so I decided to work on the truck paint job. Uhh yeah, I painted Sunday... just before that unpredicted downpour. So I was down there sanding, and sanding and my wife came down in tears, go call the doc.

See what her mind did? Well, and where both our minds had kind of been. I smiled, "no, its good news". He was in and out of surgery and we finally hooked up an hour or so later. He said he wanted to save me the long drive, 12 cores of that little walnut and he didn't hit paydirt on a single hole.

So, by then I was tired of sanding and sprayed the truck. It has a unique texture but for a jobsite it looks good from a football field away. I think I might be, like most, a little impatient  :D
