We have had a cool wet spring and now it is warming up in a hurry. If this keeps up we will be getting major flooding, the mountain snow pack is still high.

This topic of rain is being seen in many posts and other threads.  I encourage everyone to read up on the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.  Here is one link:

An internet search of the topic will give you a number of other sites to read.  I don't know why this climate phenomenon isn't given more weight by weather forecasters and climate scientists.  Maybe because it was only recognized about 10 years ago.  I think that anyone who's life and living is influenced by weather(and who's isnt) should be aware of the pdo and how you might use it in your long term planning.  Fuzzybear, I live in SW Yukon and while we had snow and rain last Sunday, it evaporated overnight.  We had lots of snow down here last winter, but even with a cool spring it is real dry. Depth of snow does'nt always mean lots of moisture.  When I was a kid I lived in the lower mainland of BC and the weather then, was more like this past winter.

Here in Western Illinois we are getting a WONDERFUL soaking rain.  So far is has rained for more than 4 hours and is almost all soaking into the ground.  You can almost hear and see the corn starting to grow.

I was working in the machine shed today (metal roof, concrete floor) and is sounded like a hurricane, but in reality is was just what we needed.

A lot of people around here are very thankful today.

Wet all spring until May. Second driest on record with just a couple tenths more than the record dry of the dust bowl year of '34.  Froze some tomato plants a  little over a week ago and we are in very southern Indiana.

It could be a very interesting summer.

It's so dry here, the Kudzu is starting to die. :'(
