First thing Friday morning, milestone for me and my mill.  42HP Kubota.  17-1/2 yrs with the mill, 11 years in business.  The hobby phase (6-1/2 yrs), 200 hours.  11 years business, 3800 hr.  Wish I could get a new LT-50 WIDE with this engine.

Awesome. I've been watching my hour meter as well. I've got the same exact mill as you and am approaching 3000 hours.
I love my mill. Keep up the good work and just think of how many thousands of feet that mill has sawn. Crazy to think about what those Mills are capable of doing. And still going strong.

Can't tell if you think mine is dirty or I clean it.   I don't think I have ever wiped it off with anything.  Except when there is glare on the display I put ATF on my finger and wipe it all over the display.

At my current sawing rate, it will take me another 30 years to get 4,000 on my mill.

I'm a kubota fan as well. Mine has over 11,000 hours now. You could buy the wide 50 and swap Motors with your current mill and get some of your money back

What if you had to do to your engine so far in those 11,000 hours?

Front crank seal at around 8000 hours. I've never had the valve cover off. Oilchainge every 100 hours. It's running like day one. If it died today, it wouldnt owe me a nickel 🤓

Every hundred hours holy crap that's like once every 2-3 weeks!  That's alot of oil changes!  I do mine every 250 on the sawmill.

As a general rule on small  GASOLINE  engines, if the engine doesn't have an oil filter, change the oil every 50 hours, if it does have an oil filter, change the oil & filter every 100 hours!

Any diesel engine I've ever known the spec is 250 hrs and in some cases every 300.  The cummins in my truck calls for every 10 or 15k miles I can't remember which.  And the new commonrails on big trucks my friend was telling me theyr calling for every 30k miles or something around there

Maybe not, I'm thinking 11000hr for you, I should go to 100 hr too.

ULSD is allowing the additives in the oil to last longer. Oil doesn't wear out, it only becomes contaminated, or the additives get used up. My '99 Dodge Cummins recommended 3500/7000 mile intervals and today that is doubled, at least. The 7000 mile interval was for highway use where there would be fewer engine warm up cycles. When a diesel engine cools, it pulls air into the engine, which has moisture in it. The moisture combines with the sulphur contaminants in the oil to make H2SO4, which is battery acid. With the greatly reduced sulphur now, the oil can be used longer.

My Perkapiller is a 250 hour interval, but is more likely to get changed yearly, or about 100 hours.
