i have to cut some 1" diagonal exterior wall sheathing to replace some rot on my house. I'm in Virginia, and I believe this would only need to be dried to 15 percent. Is it possible to sterilize for bugs while also drying to 15 percent? I have a Nyle l200 m that I haven't used yet!

Thanks,
Forrest

at higher moisture content, it takes more heat to raise the load temp.  check with @K-Guy .  does it have an aux. heater?  may have to add the halogen lights as has been described in other posts.

Yes you can. You set you kiln to 140°F for 24 hours. That should guarantee that the internal temperature of the wood reached 133°F for 45 minutes. Remember the clock doesn't start till the kiln reaches 140°F.

Yes, with a 200 you could do that.  Dry it down to 17% or so then kick your temp up to 160F, shut off the compressor, and let the temp rise.  It should finish off around 15% when done.

Most sheathing lumber in VA will be closer to around 11-12% MC.  In any case, when you nail it up, it would be prudent to leave a little space between each piece to allow for expansion and use only one nail At each stud.

Lets build to code. 2 or 3 nails per stud depending on width.

Run down to table R602.3(1) items 19 and 20 for the fastening requirements, if hand driving use 8d commons, if gunning shoot 2-1/2x .128's.  15% will be drier than most and will not cause issue.
