Does anyone have any pics of log or half log spiral stairs from the top looking down to the bottom? ???

We are trying to figure out how to layout the second floor if we go with spiral stairs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Jeff

Try www.apieceofthewoods.com.  They have a video that gives great detailed instruction on laying out and cutting a log spiral staircase.   ;D

I have pictures of my spiral stairs if I can find time to figure out how to post
them.  They aren't your normal log spiral stairs.  I cut chunks of sassafras
and stacked them on top of each other in a spiral and have them supported
every 4 treads with a post and attached at the top.  I layed out my floor
and top opening with a full size pattern made out of osb pieces.  I just
figured out the turning radius I wanted and marked it off on the pattern.
The way I bolted them all together should keep them at the proper height
after shrinkage.  Actually, that's one of the reasons why I put the posts
under them so it would help control shrinkage and settling problems plus
to spread out the weight.  If I can help anymore let me know.

Are you concerned about framing out the opening of the subfloor where the spiral staircase comes through? Or how to relate the top stair tread to the subfloor?
