Title: Waiting on Sawmill, a 72 week wait????
Post by: Steve Samson on June 06, 2021, 08:02:44 PM
I ordered a AC3667T 67hp Sawmill
67hp Perkins Turbo Diesel
Computer Setworks
Mudsaw/Debarker
fully hydraulic with all standard features
Mega Drive system
Mega drive assembly
17' 1/2" - 2" wide blade
crosstie scale
blade alignment tool
Is this the average waiting period right now?

Neighbor last night told me she was done waiting for her log splitter from TSC, "It's been a month" she said. I just laughed.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Couple weeks ago I was talking with woodmizer Maine about parts and they said if you made a deposit on a new mill that day expected delivery would be August 2022.

And to think in January 2019 I thought 15 weeks was ridiculously long! Adds something to the saying "patience grasshopper."

thanks for the input. on another note I wanted 2 inch width on my blade, anyone have any info on any drawbacks, my logic tells me it could only be better. Your thoughts please?

Only drawback would be the price.  With 67 ponies you will have plenty to pull it so she should cut just fine.

Don't get the 2" setup. In 20ft long blades 1.5" blades were like $35, 2" $50+
That mill will not produce nearly enough more to justify the expense.  Not to mention 2" blades are much more limited in manufacturers and profiles.
Check out my sig. line 3/4 of that was done with 2" blades.

All's you need too do too switch from 2" too 1-1/2" blades is change guide rollers.
Just ask for a extra set of 1-1/2 guide rollers on your order.
Haven't tried the 1-1/2" blades yet on our Cooks AC 36 been real happy with the 2" blades.
If your wanting a higher production definitely think about adding the edger
Very happy with chosing the super package also.

I'm curious, why wouldn't 1-1/2" blades work on 2" guides?

Because it will flatten the set on one side of the band.

The present question is not whether a 1-year delivery is the norm.  The real question is whether or not the manufacturer will be in business in one year from now.  Washington seems bent on gagging the economy and disrupting production and distribution.

72 weeks? Seriously? No way I would commit to that.

A lot can change in 72 weeks. Somebody could take the cookie jar [with your deposit in it] and run.  The only thing better than 2" band is 3".
