I am using rough cut poplar for the interior walls in our new barn living area.  What nail is recommended for air dried (I hope for 10% or less) 1x8.  I also want to lightly sand to expose the saw marks and help prevent the cob web Velcro effect.  Any suggestions on a faster way to sand other than 4 inch random orbital.  I tried a slightly used flap disk on a 4.5 in grinder and it worked great until it scorched a few spots.  I have done lots of construction projects with finished wood this is my first with rough cut.

Quotepoplar for the interior walls

Being 1x8 boards, then must be paneling. Going for tongue and groove or square edge and butting together ??

Any plan to run the boards through a planer for flattening one side? Going to sand before nailing to the wall?
