Question here;    about your ridge beam etc. where they overhang and are exposed to the weather:

What kind of wood did you use?  Is it treated in any way with any preservative?


Wow!  you sure are lucky to not have to contend with snow load.  Are those palm trees telling me that you are not up north near us?

Very nice looking addition to the house.

I'm really late to this thread.  I'm wondering when is says 8x18 if that's the actual cross section (that's tall).  From the last picture it looks like laminated beams so probably Doug Fir laminated?
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!
