Hi everyone!
I'd like to pick the brains of some of the members since I have a problem I can't solve. It's about my trusty 32 yr old Stihl 025. More specifically I need a new bar and chain - 16" .325 and .05 groove width.
The old bar was an original Stihl but the tip was ruined and the bar tossed. I'm assuming it was a 16" 325 .05 and 62 link since I have 4 chains still in good shape that are all the same measurement (well two 62's, a 63 and a 64 link).
The saw was bought in Canada but I've since moved to Europe and I can't for the life of me find a bar that will fit. They all seem to be 15" and my chains are too long.
Does anyone know of if Stihl even makes a bar and chain for this saw anymore? Or Oregon?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure about your measurements? Stihl's .325 bar are usually(always?) .063 gauge. The drivelink count should be 62 for a 16" bar. I'm unaware of any 15" bars anywhere. If that's what they're marked, it could be a peculiarity of metric/imperial conversion.

Hi,
The measurements are correct. The chains are .050 gauge. The bars available here are all metric equivalents - 37 and 38 for 15"which is more common here, and 40cm for 16". I tried a .325, 62 link .050 bar in a store with a new chain with same measurements and also one of my old chains which was exactly the same as the new one. They were both too long because the bar was 37cm.
I'm trying to find a 16"(40cm) bar that will fit my saw but it seems no one makes them. Does anyone know of any being made that will fit a 025 Stihl?

Have you tried Grimsholm? They're based in Sweden, but I think they have distributors throughout Europe.

Thanks, yeah I've had a look through the website and only found one bar that has the same measurements - Stihl #3003 000 3313. It's listed elsewhere as only fitting ms 261, ms271 models.
Would anyone know if this bar would fit on a 025 or would it foul up the bar oiling or something else?

twar

No, I don't think you can put a 3003 bar on a 3005 saw. Where in Europe are you?

Cannon bar has reps in Poland and Czech Republic, but not Slovakia.
They list  16" .325 bars.

The ones I could find there were .063. I need .050.

Just in case anyone has the same problem, the .050 bars are impossible to find anymore in 16". I tried a 3003 000 3313 bar and recommended 67 link chain and with the adjuster on the saw maxed, I still had over an inch of play on the chain.
The .063 gauge can be had here however in the STIHL Rollomatic E 40cm, .325", 1.6mm, 11z, 3005 000 4713. Recommended for the Stihl 025 and ms 205 saws so should be good to go.
My four .050 chains unfortunately are history.

It is a regional thing. .063 has gone the way of the dodo bird here in western Canada, I believe Stihl only supplies it with the MS881, I have never seen it with .325 or 3/8 pitch. I worked for an Oregon distributor, we gave the last of our .063 chain away, it wasn't selling.

The .063 are the only bars I can find anymore in Europe for 16" for this saw. The original bar that came with the saw when I bought it in the Yukon in 1992 was 3005 000 7013. This was a .325 .050 62 link bar.

I have a different saw and smaller bar mount, 026 Sthil 3003 mount.  But 16" bar, .325" pitch and .063 gauge.  I could not find an ES bar, but I could find the E bar.   Seems the ES in this size has been phased out.   But the .063"-gauge chain and bar were easy to find.   So, I went with what was available.  Works and cut fine.  Sometimes you just have to go with plan B.
