Glad to see it made it in one piece!

Any idiot can write a woodworking blog. Here's mine.

I suspect that we all have a deeper appreciation for our woodworking when we mill our own lumber, and that lumber becomes something special for someone we care about, be they a family member, friend, or client.
Having the opportunity to use bookmatched stock, lumber that's all from the same log to maximize consistency, and the fun that goes along with it is a wonderful experience.
As I sit here, I am looking at the nice oak rolltop desk my fiancee gave me, and while it's really nice, I see so moany elements of it that would be so much better is the stock had been more carefully selected and the grain lines blended a ittle better.
As woodworking enthusiasts and professionals, we tend to put a little bit of ourselves into each piece, and that carries with it the responsibility to make each and every piece we build a little extra special.
For myself, that means each joint is a little tighter, glue lines are invisible to everyone but me, and the quality of finish is of Smithsonian quality.
My name is on every piece that goes out of my shop, and your happiness is tied directly to it.
It's right, or I get a do-over!
I wake up in the morning, and hear the trees calling for me...come make us into lumber!
