we had one start up about 8 miles south of of me but the local volunteer fire dept got it put out very quickly so it only burned about 3 acres :o  it is drier here than i can remember and we have a state wide burn ban they are saying we might get some rain next friday but thats 10 days out and they cant forecast 48 hrs very good so i dont know why they even try to go that far ahead :D

Are you talking about the rough Ridge fire in GA? It's supposed to be a lightening caused fire.

But it appears many of the others around the southeast are suspicious...

The areas around lake lure and chimney rock have been getting evacuation notices for over a day now for the party rock fire.. Hopefully we'll get some rain soon.

Many people, even foresters and timber people seem to think that praying for your friends and praying for rain are all we can do.

People in the industry need to speak up when it comes to fuel reduction, thinning, the use of prescribed fire and timber harvesting in general. Bad management got us into this mess and only good management (and wildfires) will get us out of it.
