Long story short, I purchased a used slabber mill (27" wheels, 3" blade) with all sorts of issue, and tracking seems to be one.

The idle wheel sits on arms that can be adjusted to tilt it forward (cutting direction) or back (away from cutting direction); by adjusting these, I can get the blade to track on the idle wheel, but no matter what I do the blade sits too far back on the drive wheel - the tip of the teeth work their way to ~ 1/4" behind the front edge of the wheel and then it seems to stay there. To me this would seem to indicate the wheels are parallel, but no coplaner. Is that correct? If so does this indicate the idle wheel is a little proud (ahead of/cutting direction) the drive wheel, or vice versa? I've read one post on line that suggests that this indicates the idle wheel is proud, but I would think the opposite is true - if it's running stable on both wheels, then it is would be running parallel to both the wheels but would sit further back on the wheel that is further forward. Hi folks, with all the emission control systems on the modern diesels and issues surrounding them, has anyone here seen any delete options? My 55hp Yanmar has not caused me any grief yet, but from what I hear it likely will eventually in the form of emission control. Seems to be many options available for diesel trucks, tractors etc. just wondering if they exist for proactive removal on the Yanmars?Read More

I was watching this show, All I can say is wow. Pelletiers logging in Millinocket Main. Moving 20 TT loads a day or more. Mills with piles of logs as far as the eye can see.
That golden road is something else. Trailers are at least 12' wide and 40+ feet long.
Does anyone watch it?

I seem to be having issues with my pillow block bearings on the tensioning side of my sawmill. Designed similar to the Linn sawmill. The original bearings lasted for quite a while. Just a hobby sawyer so not sawing big numbers. The 2nd bearing gave up quick and i thought it was perhaps the extra play that i had in tensioning slide. The square tube assembly was a little sloppy on the cross members. Once tensioned, the slop went away but i thought perhaps the slop was causing some of my vibration. When the next bearing went, i added some jack bolts to the side of the slide to eliminate any slop. This also allowed me to get the tracking on the blade set much easier. I thought it was a 2 for 1 benefit. Just blew another bearing after 3 logs!Read More

we bought the sawmill last year and my wife and i have done pretty good so far learning our way around the machine sawing some elm and poplar logs that will become pallets for drying.
since getting the machine last year though we have stacked a lot of logs from friends and neighbors that are waiting to be milled and I'm wondering is there anything like a threshing bee or industry trade show near me in northwest wisconsin where we can talk to and maybe be a bit educated by people that have done this for a while.
