Anybody ever managed a planted pine stand for timber and quail?  How did you do it?

No . BUT quail and a big pot of GRITS sure is good
If you put your finger in your ear and scratch, it sounds like PacMan.

You have to thin the stand to 50 square feet of basal area or less.  More like 40 square feet.  You have to get on a two year burn cycle.  Don't burn everything in one year.  Stagger the acreage so that you are burning half each year in patches.  This leaves the quail some escape and nesting cover.

The quail are okay,not so sure if they go with grits .

They go excellent with grits and biscuits :)  Danny, about 100-120 trees an acre?
