The last 3 weeks I have been helping a friend out with filling some orders. He has gotten orders for more than he can cut so he lets some out to me.
3x4-10' by the hundred. I bundle them in 25's. This is today's hundred. I have gotten to cut 450 so far.

Hi Paul, I have some questions. But first let me say thanks for the pictures and good looking lumber and I hope you are getting paid well for those 3x4s. I know how much work that is on a manual mill, I have a Norwood and I've sawed a number of 3x3s and 4x4s and I also do my own logging. I'd say you have done well to saw a hundred in six hours.

What kind of wood are those 3x4s? Did you log the trees for that lumber? Are you going to do more?

You're lucky. It's a good friend who will share his work.    Ralph

Paul, the amount of lumber you produce with your manual mill is amazing.

White, post, and red oak lumber.
They do pay pretty well for what they are.
I sorta did the logging on these. They came from a construction site for a bank going in about 6 miles from my farm. I had to go pick up the logs. They cut and loaded them for me.
Most generally I cut load and haul.
I just cut the cants out of the log in 6 hours. I did not do the logging in that amount of time too.

A point I may have failed to make is how important it is to befriend those in the same business. I would have totally missed out on this if I hadn't.

The camera date is wrong. It should read 1-4-2012. my bad. PC

Getting to cut something like that with the old Belsaw would be a riot.Just as long as you are not the offbearer that could be a busy place to be
