Real nice lodge, with lots of inspiration hanging on the walls!

I took my hog with one of my favorite rifles, a Marlin lever action carbine in 45.70

I was going to do a european mount on it but it has such nice coloring I'm going with a shoulder mount.

Would a 45 long colt lever action work on the hogs ?

Weekend_Sawyer

It would. The 45.70 has more punch and they are tough animals but if you hit it right behind the shoulder or in the center of the neck you'll have pork for dinner!

We got home last night and I dry rubbed a shoulder and a ham for pulled pork tonight.

Guess I better continue this post in the food section.  ;D

I read and article that said the marlin 45.70 doesn't kick, it numbs. :D

They said they were a cross between DeSoto and Russian hogs.

I have that same Marlin 45-70. I love it. Nothin' like some self abuse to make you feel alive. Check out Buffalo Bore ammo. I have some stage two 500 grain solids. Keeping in mind that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction most people probably would not choose to load a "hot" load in a 45-70, but hey, you only live once!
Speaking of 45-70s, you can also load a third stage. The only gun that I know of the will handle the pressure is a Ruger #1.

Wonderful pictures!  That's a good looking hog!  I'd love to see a picture after it's mounted.

By the way, I can't get enough of you and Diane in your "standard pose."   :)

Jon,

What is the name of the place you went to? I'm guessing it's in East Tenn?
