I have a maasadam long haul rope puller that came with a 100' rope (1/2") with a clip/snap tied to one end.  I have been using it to help me with the direction of laying my trees down.  The other day the rope got pinched and I need to cut and retie the clip/snap.  It appears that it came with the clip/snap connected via an eye splice... is there another knot (perhaps easier to tie) that I should try?  Perhaps a buntline hitch?  Appreciate the help.

Anchor hitch, bowline, double fishermans all should work as a termination knot.

Bowline and anchor being the easiest to untie in the future, tho the fishermans would nest best on the eye of the clip, the bowline will be floppy.

Resplice would be the strongest and cleanest.

All the above mentioned knots will work well. I am going to add a figure eight on a bit,if you are going to want to untie it I think the bowline would be easier to get loose. We advance the line into the tree and use a running bowline.I like the three strand safety blue rope from New England rope works.
