dont have one ! but thought it over a lot?? need to get a new saw for the big stuff so turned the check and went from red to orange... the 2188 is the sister saw to the husky 390xp.... same innerds but diff handle configuration an color... only real reason for the trade in color was a "10.00" saveings??? lol sometimes a guy just has to break away from the normal status quoe.....you wont be sorry with your choice!

I have seen them in action and had "demo saw" time on them. Really the only things I can say are as follows; every one I have seen has been awesome. All the folks who own them I have talked with about them think they are ..awesome. I happen to like the red versions better than the orange ones ...don't have a practical reason why. Maybe because the dealers are a little smaller and more customer oriented..maybe because the color...maybe the enthusiasm of the folks I have met who own them is infectious.. I can say if I was to spend money on a new saw it would either be a 2188 or 2171.

I bought a 2188 last spring. Had a bit of coil trouble. Put a 2171 coil on it and has ran great ever since. It has lots of low end power. I use it on the big stuff or for bucking on the landing when I need to. My daily go to saw is my 2171 with a big bore kit.
