A lot of the otc antihistamines are ineffective after 3 or 4 months, that is why I like Flonase. Best to talk to your physician.

Warm saltwater rinses as often as you need but at lease twice a day.

Clears the crap and you'll feel better with no meds,

D
Probably wont help most of you guys, but surfing is GREAT for saline sinus rinses.  :D
Just personal experience when I was surfing most days. A few good wipeouts and you would be blowing out snot every time you came up. That was being rinsed out of someplace  ???  Downside was that for the rest of the day, every time you put your head down, sea water might drip out your nose.  :D
But it did convince me that saltwater rinses could actually clear your sinuses. It's not stopping the mucous build-up from forming like the drugs attempt to, it's just flushing it out.

That is one of the better post in this thread. Far too many people in the USA spend vast amounts of what I'll call "un-focused money" on OTC "cures", when there are times that a specialist visit is time well spent.
I'll add that an allergy ENT doc who specializes in allergies is the best of choices but not always the closest one.
The allergy doc I go to is an immigrant from Greece, interesting guy to say the least, who has a main office and 4 or 5 satellite offices. His patients seem to be a combo of various allergies, calls his practice-asthma and immunology.
My first allergy doc is gone now but has a daughter who replaced him after I'd begun with my new guy. The first doc focused on ENT practice which migrated over into mostly asthma, allergies and immunology. He was Welsh, thus both my allergy docs have been an interesting cultural adventure. Greek doc offered me the use of his vacation home he keeps in Greece. First time visit he handed me his tablet loaded with pics of Greece, the vacation home and his mixed family, which FWIW, includes a very hot Americano blonde second wife.
 Maybe someday I'll get there?

The back story is that he's about 5'6" and bald headed and maybe 25 years older then the blonde, 2nd wife in his pictures, so my( devious?) mind went toward the notion that my meek little allergy doc has a hot wife, which she is.

Very little of the story line has one iota to do with anyone's sinus cavities :D

That said he's a really nice man and a VG good doc from my experience. I'd like to take him up on the Greek vacation place for certain.
