Makita 6401 kill switch

how do you replace the kill switch with least amount of tear down, do you use a blade screwdriver from out side to compress the tabs or do you have come from inside?

Don't know about yours but many have rounded locks so they will come up out of the hole without having to unlock any tabs.
On my Homelite you can start it up with a butter knife put between the switch base and the plastic case of the saw.
I wish changing the air filter was that easy.

thanks makes sense it comes out from outside, rather than taking the saw apart.

Never done a Makita but if you look at pic of switch - you could slide a thin 2 prong fork (or a thin, narrow putty knife) in to push 2 curved retaining tabs back as you wiggle switch out. Goggle above title and find a pic.

 I 'm going to try the putty, butter knife thanks for the advice.

ground a little butter knife to correct width tried pushing in and prying from the rear, no luck tried from front bingo!Thanks to those who replied.
