Ketchup? What do you dip in ketchup? Crawfish, shrimp, crab? I've not tried it but it is kind of the base of cocktail sauce without the horseradish.

That time I spent on the east coast while in the navy spoiled me for seafood forever .I got a taste of what it's supposed to taste like not the frozen stuff you get here in the big cornfield .It's the difference between fine wine and Ripple .

I had a teacher in high school that got to be a friend of the family. His brother owned and operated a crab boat up in the Bering Straits ... like those you see on the Deadliest Catch. He shipped us down a big box of King Crab legs overnight air. It had to cost a pretty penny even back then. To this day ... I've never had a King Crab leg or another piece of seafood that even came close to those. It's one of those few meals in life that are on like your top 5 or 10 maybe and you never forget them. I can't even imagine living up there and being able to have them fresh like that on a regular basis. Louisiana isn't a bad second though.  :)

Prince Rupert, BC is kind of a jumping off spot to Alaska. Alaskan ferry stops there and there is an commercial airport and sea plane port. Also one more jump west is Haida Gwai where there is an airport in Sand Spit. The islands are a bit rustic, but one restaurant there in Queen Charlotte village has a fish platter that no one could begin to eat. Great big glass platter, not a plate. There was fish and crustaceans there I never heard tell of before. :D Be a closer spot to get some of them king crabs brought down. The Alaska border is just an imaginary line drawn between a bunch of Islands and the mainland down that way. ;D And on up the coast, Stewart is just across the street from Hyder, AK. Even closer. Stewart is the most northern ice free sea port in the country.

Just got back to the computer. Sure sounds like a Southern style crawfish boil may be needed in the works for all you boys missing out on po' folks food.

Anyone  interested? To late for any thing this year but who knows what the next season might bring.

Stay safe. Chuck

Magicman,

Your killin' me man.   After 15 years in Louisiana, I certainly learned to love d' crawfish.

Now, here in Minnesota, we believe seasoning our food with salt is living on the edge.

Miss the crawfish and the blackened everything!

It's not too late chuck. We've got Mudbug Madness going on right now below my office in Shreveport. All the crawfish you wanna eat with live music, cold beer and pepsi. It's near the end of the season but anyone close can still come get some. They should be nice and big too. There's hundreds of people down there right now ...right below my window.  :) Tomorrow I'm wearing plain clothes so I can go eat crawfish and not worry about getting any spice on my tie.  ;)

Just my luck. I missed Breaux Bridge this year and now I'm still at work and will miss that little get together. Eat a couple platters for us stuck out here.

Where you at Chuck? Out in the Gulf? I just looked out my window at the festival. I bet there's 500-750 people down there eating crawfish right now. Work didn't let me get down there today. We've got the rest of the weekend though.  :)
