Jerry Reed dies Monday.  I'm going to miss him.

I met him a a part of a golfing entourage in Ft. Pierce in 1969.  I've got a picture around here somewhere  of him standing with his back mostly to me in the twilight on the "T".   I had no idea who he was but he was hanging with Chet Atkins, Boots Randolph and Floyd Cramer.

He marched to his own drummer, some of his music was kinda offbeat. He and Burt were priceless in Smoky and the Bandit. Yeah I know, it was corny but a hoot anyway.

He was a much better musician (both technical and artistic) than many folks realize.  The lure of the big screen pulled him away from it.  His Wikipedia page talks a lot about his early career activities with Elvis and Chet Atkins.

The Snowman role was my favorite, but I enjoyed him in Waterboy as well.
