OK.  doing some surfing on YouTube between watching Nathan, Robert, and even some Lumber Capital Log Yard, I peak at stuff.  my first thought was this is a great jig and could inspire me to think outside of the box.  any others?  @Larry and others?

I've made so many jigs I think my forum handle should be "jigman". This winter I even burnt some of the old ones because I was running out of storage room.

A few out of my gallery.

A few new ones.

A well made jig is often the difference between making or losing money on a product. One of my customers came round to buy wood last month. He said he could not keep up with demand on his fancy charcuterie boards. He was cutting them out with two sided tape and a template. I modified the template to eliminate two sided tape and use vacuum applied with a pneumatic switch. He reported back production speed increased and cost went down.

I don't have any pictures of that jig or his cutting boards. I do have a picture of a typical vacuum template.

This is the bottom of the template. The black tape is commercial vacuum tape and in this case the template material is scrap Corian. I usually use baltic birch.

This is the top side of the template. It has a ptf air tube fitting and the air tube goes to the pneumatic switch.

You can see the pneumatic switch on the left side of my articulating vacuum clamp (just another jig) and a favorite.

I had to radius a bunch of parts for a project.  Went to printables.com and found a set of templates.  Printed the one I needed  out, it worked good so printed the whole set. So easy to 3d print jigs and templates that are accurate.  Needed a special width sanding block for a project so printed one that fit the slots perfectly . Don't overlook 3d printed and laser cut jigs and templates. 20231115_151320.jpg20231115_151444.jpg
