No, not really. My sister found this lovely creature in her garage.
A baby snapper?
A turtadillo?

You almost read my mind, I was gonna say an armaturtle.
Looks like something you could make a horror movie with. Fake the background to make it look 40' long and have it fighting Godzilla!
Baby snapper. Perfect size to keep as a pet, or in a fish pond.
yep hand feed it then eat it :) :)
This is what it will look like when it's mature.............

Bibbyman, you never should've put that quarter by it! You could have had the movie rights and been rich!
I am surprised that you found one that small this late in the year. I had assumed that the eggs hatched in late spring/early summer, and that the little critters grew fast enough to show a difference in size compared to the hatchlings by the end of the summer. I guess I'd better read up on the life cycle of the snapping turtle. Certainly, they only lay eggs once a year. I just assumed that they would be larger by now.
My sister said they found another the same size in their front yard. Her husband took them to a pond nearby and set the loose. I hope he's not planning to swim in that pond in a couple of years!
