I chose other because you can only have one vote.
I use a JD450C crawler/loader with a timber winch on the back to get the logs in position to load onto a JMS forwarding trailer with a grapple loader.  I then hitch the trailer to the crawler and transport the logs over to the mill where I unload the logs onto a couple of 4x4 cants so I can roll the logs onto the log loader on the mill.

I use a Cat 320 Excavator with grabs which works great on larger logs (800mm -  1.5m girth & up to about 10tonne) with my setup, Lucas 9 1/4" 27hp with a rail and trolley system. It becomes a bit fiddly to place smaller logs on the trolley more so when I gang up 2 or 3 logs side by side. Heavy logs can be a bit scary at times to but generally thing this works pretty well as you have better control in placing a log exactly where I want it (no logs rolling around).
My trolley doesn't use dogs but rather wedges so I can move 1 end of logs side ways to get best recovery. Most of my timber has pipes.
